Tzu Chi Annual Appreciation and Blessing Ceremony
The Tzu Chi Foundation invited D.A.R.E. BC Society to attend their Annual Appreciation and Blessing Celebration on January 24th, 2016 at the Massey Theatre in New Westminster. Annually, the Tzu Chi Foundation hosts its Blessing Celebration towards the end of the lunar year to thank its sponsors and volunteers in aiding Tzu Chi in making a difference in communities across the world.
Impact of Tzu Chi Foundation
Attendees learned about the many wonderful things that Tzu Chi Foundation has done around the world in 2015. Watching a Tzu Chi documentary, guests learned of Tzu Chi helping victims of the powder explosion in Malaysia, providing medical supplies to the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone and rebuilding schools in Haiti. In Canada, Tzu Chi has volunteered with 37 seniors homes for 23 years and supported numerous education and children’s programs, such as the D.A.R.E. kiR program.
Tzu Chi Presents Sign Language Musical
Over 200 Tzu Chi volunteers performed in the musical drama, “Profound Love of Parents: Honouring our Seniors” which was presented in sign language. Guests travelled through conception to death learning of the sacrifices parents make and their profound love they provide for their children.
The afternoon ended in a beautiful blessing ceremony where the crowd held candles and prayed for the future and a healthy and prosperous New Year. Tzu Chi gave guests red packets from Master Cheng Yen, founder of Tzu Chi Foundation, to welcome the Year of the Monkey and marking the 50th anniversary of Tzu Chi Foundation.
D.A.R.E. BC Society is grateful for the continuous support of the Tzu Chi Foundation. The Tzu Chi Foundation’s donation has helped thousands of students receive Drug Abuse Resistance Education across British Columbia. D.A.R.E. BC Society extends a wish for a healthy and prosperous New Year to the Tzu Chi Foundation and all of its beneficiaries and supporters in 2016!
