On December 11th, D.A.R.E. BC Society had the privilege of recognizing a long-standing D.A.R.E. teacher, Mr. Nav Badyal and a Grade 5 student, Matthew Del Rosario, receiving the Good Citizen Award. The D.A.R.E. Teacher Appreciation Certificate and Good Citizen Award is a great achievement and was presented at the James Thompson Elementary D.A.R.E. Graduation. Mr. Badyal was also presented a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the Officer in Charge at the Richmond Detachment. Cst. Bal Kandola, Steve Ternes (President), Mike Yau (Past-President), David Yau (Board Member), Jal Ico (Program Administer), Nadia Samaei-motlag (Partner Relations Manager), and other D.A.R.E Officers were all in attendance for this special day of celebration for the students that graduated from the D.A.R.E. Program.
Mr. Badyal’s first teaching contract was his initial interaction with the D.A.R.E program. With the background in drug and alcohol education/testing, getting involved with D.A.R.E was a recognizable program to participate in. Mr. Badyal came to James Thompson Elementary School in 2012 and has taught D.A.R.E every year since.
Matthew Del Rosario is a positive influence on his fellow peers. He always ensures that everyone is included in-group activities and takes responsibility and leadership very seriously.
Thank you and congratulations Mr. Badyal for your continuing efforts for the D.A.R.E Program. Congratulations Matthew Del Rosario, your hard work is greatly appreciated.
